I Write Emails Like They’re Telegrams
If you gave me a choice between writing emails and playing in the park with my boys, like most people, I would choose to spend the time…
My life is so much better because certain people took the time to respond to my cold email. I want to pay that gift forward.
I get to inbox zero by 6pm every day.
I try to respond to every email I receive within 72 hours (and don’t mind being chased up if I miss that deadline).
To make this possible, I keep my emails succinct.
I write emails like they’re telegrams.
Studies show that 75–100 word emails are the most effective, and I try to abide by that limit.
Every extra word I write imposes a time and dollar cost on both of us. So I get to the point as quickly as I can.
If you ever read an email from me, and think to yourself, that seemed terse… know that it’s not you, it’s me.
I’m rushing to clear my inbox, and striving to pay down some of my karmic debt to the universe.
