All you need to know about nuraphones is what it feels like to hear them for the first time. Take a minute to watch this video:
I remember the first time I ever heard a Sony Walkman.
It was February 4, 1990, and I was 6. I know this because February 4 was my fatherβs birthday and we had bought him the Walkman as a present.
When I put those headphones on for the first time, it felt like the band was playing inside my brain. I will never forget that moment.
Hearing nuraphones for the first time was an experience of equal gravity.
Imagine having bad eyesight before glasses were invented. And imagine the feeling of putting a pair of glasses on for the first time, seeing the world clearly, finally.
Thatβs what nuraphones do toΒ sound.
They make you feel like youβve been hearing music wrong all along.
Normal music, old music, music before nuraphones, sounds muddy and clumped together.
With nuraphones, I can hear every cymbal. Every key. Every backup singerβs harmony.
It feels like discovering music again for the first time.
There is a scene in HBOβs βDefiant Onesβ where Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are tuning a carβs sound system to sound good to them. These are two men responsible for some of the most iconic sounds of our lifetimes.
And I watched that scene and thought to myself, βthat car will sound good to them, but completely different to everyone elseβ.
It is an odd thing to realise that everyone hears the world completely differently to everyone else.
There is incredible skepticism with new innovation, or with claims that something is different or revolutionary.
All I know is what I hear when I put the nuraphones on.
And what I hear is something I have never heard before.
When a product like the nuraphone comes out, people sum it up in just a few words. A tweet, an article, a little anecdote shared over a coffee or a beer.
But the privilege of seeing this journey up close has been to watch a team dedicating their entire lives, their hearts and their souls to making something truly great.
It is the greatest joy of being an investor to see a team in a state of fixated obsession, oblivious to everything except the creation of something new and wonderful.
Kyle, Luke, Dragan and the team embody the values we seek in the people we work withβββthey are aiming to be the best in the world, they are relentless in their pursuit of great product, and they are doing their lifeβs work.
After years of work, anyone can now buy nuraphones.
We are so proud of the nura team, and incredibly excited for people to finally have the product in their hands and on their ears.
The nuraphone is here.
