Welcome to our new GM: Oscar Mclennan
I’m so excited to introduce Oscar Mclennan, Startmate’s new General Manager.
I’m so excited to introduce Oscar Mclennan, Startmate’s new General Manager.
Oscar is a recent returnee to Australia, after a stint in SF & NY where he lead go-to-market at ML-startup Quid, backed by Founders Fund.
We met for the first time through Ash Fontana on an SF Hill Runners run up Bernal Heights. Our friendship was initially forged summiting Twin Peaks, Mt Tam, and Hawk Hill.
Oscar is an even better skier than he is a runner.
In 2014, he created Sugar Mountain — an adventure documentary in Alaska. It landed global distribution, theatrical acclaim, and a sold out tour in the US and Australia. You should watch the trailer.
Or you can read about it here.
Before Sugar Mountain, he was a Product Manager at Better Place, the epicly grand and ultimately failed attempt to roll out a global electric car network. This took him to Israel, California, Denmark and the Netherlands.
He’s also done awesome things like shipping in 500 purpose-designed bikes for Burning Man, then donating them to Bicycles for Humanity.
In everything he’s done, the founder spirit is strong. He knows the grind of big projects, the power of a huge vision, and the many ways things can go wrong and right.
He started out his career with honors in Law and Engineering at The University of Melbourne.
This is what he’s doing at Startmate.
Please welcome him warmly to the Startmate family.
